Frequently Asked Questions

Q. What is or does REMORA mean or stand for?

A. Remora, sometimes called a suckerfish or sharksucker, is an elongated, brown fish in the order Perciformes and family Echeneidae. They grow to 30–90 centimetres long (1–3 ft), and their distinctive first dorsal fin takes the form of a modified oval sucker with slat-like structures that open and close to create suction and take a firm hold against the skin of larger marine animals. By sliding backward, the remora can increase the suction, or it can release itself by swimming forward. Remoras sometimes attach to small boats. They swim well on their own, with a sinuous, or curved, motion.

Remoras are primarily tropical open-ocean dwellers and are commonly found attached to sharks, manta rays, whales, turtles. The relationship between Remoras and their perfect hosts is most often taken to be one of commensalism, specifically phoresy. The host they attach to for transport gains nothing from the relationship, but also loses little. The remora benefits by using the host as transport and protection and also feeds on materials dropped by the host.

Q. Who thought up the ”No-Clip, Non-Slip“ Holster?

A. Alan Bogdan, owner of Remora Concealment and Security Products LLC is the designer of the “No Clip-Non Slip" in the waistband or pocket carry holster. Alan started research and development of the REMORA “No-Clip, Non-Slip” holster in April 2008  Great pride is taken to produce the finest quality, most advanced and most comfortable concealment or related security product you will ever carry.  Also asking our customers for continued feedback on our products gives us the tools we need to keep pace with the increasingly varied demands, needs and requirements. Reach out to us we want to hear from you!

However there are other holster manufacturers claiming the same style, properties and quality of the REMORA line. For the best in Concealment Holsters and Security Products settle for no less than the The Original REMORA "No Clip, Non-Slip" Products.

Q. How does the holster stay in place?

A. The REMORA holsters are a compression type holster which requires a minimum amount of compression to keep the holster in place.

When the REMORA holster is not in the waistband or has no compression to hold the firearm in the holster. Yes, the firearm will fall out of the holster if held up-side down.

The REMORA holsters remain in place with a minimal amount of compression due to REMORA’S Non-Slip rubber skin.

The non slip rubber contains no latex for those who have allergic reactions to Latex.

Q. Does the holster have to be against the skin to stay in place?

A. The REMORA holster does not need to be against the skin. It holds to most materials as long as what it is adhering to is secure and will not slip up or move.

Q. How long will the holster keep its tackiness?

A. When tested the non-slip rubber still kept its tackiness after 12,000 cycles of the T/A abrasion test. Keeping the holster clean from body oils and other dirt helps the holster keep its grip.

Q. What is the outside skin of the holster?

A. The outer skin of the REMORA holster is our non-slip rubber fabric. The REMORA’S outer skin contains no latex for those with allergic reactions to Latex.

Q. How does the holster hold if you are sweating?

A. The holster still remains in place even in the sweatiest of times. Compression may need to be increased a bit.

Q. Will my handgun gun get wet from sweat?

A. The REMORA holster is a non-absorbent holster. All materials used are non-Absorbent.

1. Outer skin – non slip rubber 2. Internal membrane - closed cell foam 3. Interior-Denier fabric.

The only part of the handgun that would get wet would be what is exposed. Sweat may enter through the top mouth of the holster. Removal of the gun from the holster is suggested as a scheduled maintenance to assure no humidity or wetness has entered to prevent any surface rust or malfunctions with the firearm.

Q. Do I need the sweat shield?

A. A sweat shield will not protect the total gun from sweat and body oils. It will protect the top of the slide, beaver tail and hammers of most handguns and revolvers. It will protect the carrier from any gouge issues.

Q. How do I clean my Remora holster?

A. Cleaning the REMORA holster as a general maintenance is recommended so that the REMORA holster will maintain its tackiness.

Use a degreasing soap like dish washing soap, degreasing cleaner or rubbing alcohol. Clean and rinse holster well inside and out. Shake off as much water as possible. If mouth of holster will not remain open insert an object in the mouth of the holster to keep it open. (A toilet paper tube works well) Let holster stand and air dry until all moisture is gone from the holster. A hair dryer set on a low temperature will speed up the drying process.

Q. What is the difference between the regular “No-Clip, No-Slip” holster style or the ART style?

A. The difference between the ART and the Regular style is that the ART style holster is about a 1/2" lower where the trigger guard meets the grip exposing more of the guns grip allowing for a better master grip. Especially good for those who have large hands or hand guns with small grips.

Q. Do I need the reinforced top holster (RFT)?

A. The reinforced top holster with the plastic band laminated into the holster was designed for off duty law enforcement or those who need or want to be able to single hand re-holster. If single handed re holstering is not an issue we suggest that you go with the Regular “No-Clip, No-Slip” holster which is softer with a lower profile and easier to conceal.

Q. Can I have the sweat shield and the reinforced top combined in the same holster?

A. Yes. You can combine the two different modifications in one holster.

Q. Do you have to remove the holster from the waistband to re-holster?

A. NO. All you need to do is open the top / mouth of the holster using a thumb and fore finger and insert the handgun and as always making sure that your finger is not on the trigger.

Q. Will gun remain in the holster when held up-side down?

A. The REMORA holsters are a compression type holster which requires a minimal amount of compression to keep the gun in the holster. When the REMORA holster is not in the waistband or has no compression to compress the holster against the firearm. Yes the firearm will fall out of the holster if held up-side down.
